
We had a fun weaver's meeting yesterday. I showed the ladies a technique that was taught by Joyce (Wheat) at our Complex Cloth Fiber group last summer. It's called 'Chalk on fabric soaked in milk'! Yep, you soak your fabric in a milk/water solution then you 'paint' using chalk crayons, not sidewalk chalk. You need a high pigment chalk to paint your fabric. Oh, you're wondering about the milk...it acts as a binder for the chalk pigment...same as using soda ash when you are dyeing with fiber reactive dyes. So here are some pics of ladies working hard!
