Tiffany Peacock 2nd

Two of my 'buds' have mentioned no updates lately on my blog!  Not sure where the time goes or what the heck I'm doing....but I always feel the hours and days go by way too fast!!!!  UGH...So, I need to get on the stick and get busy, right!

Bob's still having PT and issues with his pinched nerve in his L4 region.  Not much I can do except be the 'caregiver' and make sure he takes his meds (Tylenol) and Predisione pack (which he has now finished).  Two more PT weeks then??????

So, I was able to spend a few hours (& I mean only! a few hours) the past two weeks on my new Tiffany Peacock.

I started to cut out the pattern shapes and playing with different colors.  I ordered Fossil Fern fabrics, which I found on Shabby Fabrics online.  I've purchased from them years ago and was happy to see they still carried Pat Campbell's line!

As always, this is the hard part for me.  My Q Bud, Susan, said it's the most fun part.  She's great at choosing just the right color/fabric for all of her quilts.  Me..not so much!

First, I laid out the pieces on white fabric..my first peacock was finished on a white background....but I wasn't sure I wanted the white again.  You can see that finished peacock piece here.  Actually, it was a molted batik white..but still white.

I decided to see what background I had in my stash.  This piece was leftover from my Hex quilt..just one of the fabrics I purchased but didn't use.

Hard to see in the picture but I like this fabric better than the white.  Heck, the peacocks, if I get finished!, won't hang side by side so......

Once I had the fabrics secure in place, I turned the fabric over and laid black batik piece on top.

From here I basted the background, fabric pieces and black fabric to hold in place for the next step.

Then it's time to baste/stitch between the 'leaded' areas with colored thread...I wish I had basted the black using red thread and white for identifying where the 'lead' lines are.  White is easier to see.

Once all the lines are stitched, I'll be ready to start reverse appliqueing!!  woohoo

Some of these steps may not be clear to 'ya all' but this method was developed by my talented Q Bud, Susan!

Check out her BEAUTIFUL quilt here!  You'll be so amazed and appreciate her talent!  I know she won at several AQA shows for this quilt  and others she has made.  This is  just beautiful in person and another of my favorites..Susan's workmanship is outstanding!!!!

So thanks, Susan, for giving this 'student' of yours another attempt at your reverse applique method!
