Day 48 thru 53/101 Days of Art

I am actually enjoying the 101 Days of Art Facebook page!  First off, it gives me that nudge to do some type of art work, hand work and even knitting.  Plus, you get to see some really cool art work being done by those who have joined this group.  So here are my latest pieces....I'll be posting on some other projects that I am planning on working on...until then.....

DAY 48 - starting a small topper for my friend

DAY 49 - 5"x8" paper collage

DAY 50 - finished large disperse dyed block

DAY 51- free motion quilting started

DAY 53 - disperse dyed quilt topper finished.  18"x18" this is a gift for my friend who turns 85 on April 23!  Donna is my walking bud and good friend.  Such a lovely lady that I was so fortunate to become her friend.
On another note...I'll be preparing for my kids to come to our house for Easter!  I'm so excited to have them!  The past two years my daughter and DIL have brought us dinner for Easter!  It's 'mum's' time to give them a slight break.  My daughter is making her famous overnight french toast and a crustless quiche...the rest I'll be having fun making!  Love having them around...Happy Easter to all.
DAY 52B- yep more feathers

Day 39 - 47 101 Days of Art

DAY 39

Still working away on my knitted lace top.  I finished one sleeve, picked up stitches on the 2nd sleeve and now it's knit, knit, knit!  Then I can block and wear on Easter!  That's my plan...until then I'm still playing with other art techniques.

These are some older stamped card stock that I cut and use for my cards.

DAY 39 cards

I cut and insert the card stock in these photo frame cards.  I like to have cards that I can just grab and send to my friends!

DAY 40

Day 40  I showed my finished disperse dyed quilt.

Day 41 - Since I had some extra disperse dyed blocks, I decided to make a small topper for one of my buds!
DAY 41

DAY 47 - 1

DAY 47 - TUB TO HOLD PAPERS

DAY 47 - decided to reorganize my painted/stenciled/etc. papers.  I did this about two years ago and it was time for another reorganize time!  I have large cellophane bags that I put each colorway in.

So that's what's keeping me busy...in addition our library is preparing for our 3 day book sale the end of April...so it's back to helping out a few hours a week.  Until then...it's knitting and embroidery work for me!

Day 30 -37 of 101 Art Projects

Yep, inbetween knitting (and I did square up my disperse dyed quilt top!), I'm still doing some daily art work...some days knitting but that's still doing some type of art/craft work!  So here's what I've been doing so far!

Day 30 I played with gelli printing...nothing exciting but I was able to use papers to make some collages this week.

Another sheet of layout paper I did...these look very pale...actually, they were a tad darker, which you'll see in the collage I made.

Day 31 - 5" x 8" collage...

I knitted quite a bit on Day 32 and finished the bind off on the body of my top.  I also cut binding for my disperse dyed quilt top!

Day 33 - another collage...these are in my Octopus Journal with my other collage pieces I did in Hilary's class.

Day 34 - Woo hoo!  I finished a sleeve!!!

Day 35 - you probably read my previous blog post!!!!  FROGGING!!!  And the reason why I ripped this all out!

Day 35 con't:  WHEW!  I actually ripped out the ribbing and ripped out back to 76 stitches!  So now the knitting the sleeve starts again!!!

Day 36 - another collage from gelli printing.

Day 37 - another paper collage.  I kinda like this one!

So, that's been my life....more knitting will be ongoing as well as getting the binding sewn on my quilt top.

Day 27 - 29

Weather has been strange...2 inches of snow on Saturday but warm enough to walk Kalee on Sunday and both girls on Monday!    And we saw two robins in the yard so spring is coming!!!!

At least I have something to show on my blog, which is a good thing!  Makes me realize that I am doing something!  I had intended to do some more gelli printing but I got sidetrack with, what else, cooking!  I made stuffed peppers, meat loaf and pork and sauerkraut for our dinners Saturday, Sunday and Monday!  I will make more bread next as well as Bob's cookies...Heaven forbid I don't have them in the cookie jar for him!  Geeeeeeezzzzzzzzz

Day 27 - free motion filler

Day 27 - free motion filler continues

day 28 - just some straight stitching

Day 28 - more straight stitching....no I can't stitch a straight line!  But hopefully, no one will look that close!

Day 29 - more filler free motion quilting continues

Day 29 - yep,  more free motion quilting.....

You were expecting something else!  HA  Day 29...third area finished.  Still lots more filler to do but it's easy work!  I just might get this finished!  So glad I decided to participate in this 101 day art project!  A good way to get art work/project finished!

Day 20 - 24 101 daily art projects

DAY 24
I am too lazy to reorder the pictures so these are Day 24 thru Day 20!

This is the last large leaf block I need to embroider on the disperse dye quilt top.  Then to see which other blocks I hand embroider or free motion quilt.

DAY 23 - START OF THE LAST BLOCK

DAY 22 - Kinda ugly but just using up some papers.  The collage pieces are only 5" x 8".  I'm going to gelli print more papers on Sunday.

DAY 21 - these are some of my older papers...this turned out fairly decent.

DAY 20 - The background is from a piece I did a year or two ago.  The leaves are from a piece I stencil cut...again...nothing earth shattering but fun to be playing again.

So this week is for working on hand work!  AND I'm on the ribbing for my lace T!  woohoo...then I'll need to knit the sleeves!  I may make spring yet!

101 Daily Art Project - day 16 - 19

Using the papers/photo transfer from my 'playing' earlier this week I finished some collages!  I have to say it's been great getting back into the swing of things.  Next week, I'm back working on my disperse dyed quilt top.

I merged pics of the pieces I printed.

I only used the left side of this pic.  Each section is 5" x 8" gelli printing.

I decided it's SO much easier to create a collage using papers from the same printing session!  The colors blend so much better!!!  And saves me from digging through mounds of papers I've printed over the past several years!

This collage is day 16.  The leaves are from a stencil I printed on layout paper but the background was bland.  The circles from the gelli print filled in the bland areas.

Day 17

Day 18

Day 19 - this was using both papers and the photo transfer fabric with music printed on and over printed with gelli printing.

Next week it's back to working on the disperse dyed quilt top with one more leaf embroidery piece to do...then to decide what other hand embroidery work and/or free motion quilting to do...decisions..decisions...

101 Daily Art Project continues!

Still doing the 101 daily art project...I am really glad I signed up for it.  You don't have to spend hours on a project....just 20 minutes or however long you have.  The other day I decided, since I'm working on the disperse dyed quilt one week and some type of other media the next week, that I would do some gelli printing.  Turned out to be fun again!  I forgot how much I enjoyed playing with the gelli print...and of course I had tons of previous stamped/dyed/stenciled papers that needed additional work on them!  How perfect to use them up!

This was what I printed using the gelli pad.  I got some cool pieces and some not so exciting...but I did  use up some of those 'not so exciting' pieces from two years ago in a few collages!  I'll post those when I finish up this week.

This was sheet of music that I printed on one of those photo transfer fabric sheets.  Actually, I printed several of them years ago for another exhibit our art group was working on.  I never did use them!  So perfect for playing around with printing over the music with the gelli print!

This really isn't as gray as it looks in the picture...I was using green/turquoise/gold paints.

I don't remember what the original background  layout paper looked like before I printed over it!

This was a dark green small piece that I gelli printed with a circle stamp...actually, the stamp is a coaster!  But works better as a stamp!

This was just a plain white piece of layout paper that I printed over using some of Hilary's wood stamps I purchased.  It's a jelly fish!  I have two different sizes of the stamp and use it frequently...well, I used to use it when I was printing more papers!

My next post I'll show some of the collages I'm trying to do daily.  They are only 5"x8" so easy to complete pretty quick!
