So now what should I do! LOTS!

It feels so strange that I don't have a project hanging over my head!  My friends know I do not like target dates at all.  So, I've been doing some spring cleaning - finished master bedroom, master bath and my sewing room!  Feels so good to walk in the sewing room and start looking at a new or old project to work on!  Actually, I did some sewing for Bob (shortened a pair of pants) and now playing with one of my art pieces from Hilary's online class.  I've been MIA from the lessons between life, Bob & his health issues and with making Nick's T-shirt quilt for several months.  With Bob now on a treatment plan and the T-shirt quilt finished, it's time to work on what I want when I want and the same with spring cleaning.  Still need to spring clean computer room, LR and kitchen.  Downstairs family room will be on hold until Christmas!  Works for me!

Back in January, I finished knitting the Ixia lace top.  I was happy with it but the neckline drops too close to your shoulder.  My sister made this same top and it was also an issue for her, so she gave the top to her daughter and it fits really good.  Today, I took some fine elastic and wove it through the neckline to make it a tad tighter.  I'm really happy with it now!  Hard to see in this picture and I didn't take a picture with it on, but I'll be wearing it soon and will take a pic.  You can see how the neckline looked when I finished back in January here.

I'm also back to knitting the  Lattice Lace poncho I started in March.  It's coming along but I haven't worked on it much!  It's more for fall so I should have finished sometime this summer!

It's really hard to even look at this and figure out how it will be a poncho!  My sister is also making this same pattern and we both are just "following instructions" and keeping our fingers crossed!

And this is my latest machine stitching project....I made this collage and attached to batting a few months ago.  The leaf design was a stencil and the border is part of the reverse from the stencil.  I added the photo of the little bird from a magazine.

I started stitching the center leaf today but I'm having some issues with the stitching not looking right.  Need to change needle, tension or thread(s).  This is what was left after I ripped out the stitching!  This print is on layout paper so you know what happens when you stitch on paper, right!  Actually, it will be a good lesson for my FMQ to follow the holes exactly once I get the tension/thread stitching as it should be!  Fingers crossed!

Tonight Nick has their 2nd championship Lacrosse game!  I am heading down to Oxford for the game.  Also, check out this link...yes, I'm proud of Nick and his team for making it to the finals!  Nick is #19 and his picture is on the front of the article.  I've saved the pdf to put in his memories book for his 21st BD!

Oxford Newspaper Lacrosse article

Bob is doing great with radiation...he had his 7th treatment today and doing well.  So happy he's being so positive and no side effects.  They really don't think he'll have anything!

Great Weekend!

We had such a nice weekend!  Ron, Bob's son, came to spend the night Saturday while MaryJo had a sister's weekend in Oxford.  Worked out great so Bob and Ron could yell at the TV together while watching college football!  Michigan did a great job so there were happy faces...doesn't look like it in this picture (I have to sneak taking pics!).  It's always fun to have the kids here and Ron and Bob are great at the banter and cheering on Michigan!

It was a good game to watch..although I was knitting and would get thrown off counting my stitches when either Bob, Ron or the announcer would talk about yardage or scores...I would be counting stitches and someone would say "19" and I'd think...hmmmm thought I was only on 15 stitches!  Yep..I did a lot of recounting!

Darrin and Nick were at the Boo Bash Lacrosse weekend in Indiana!  They were in Ernie, PA last weekend and now this past weekend!  Yes, they get Covid tests often!!  Nick scored several times this weekend...and had a few assists as well.  He's really doing so well at Lacrosse.

And we received news last week he's been accepted at Lawrence Tech U, for engineering (here in Michigan) and was also offered a spot on the LTU Blue Devil's Men's Lacrosse Team.  His official signing is planned for October 30th at LTU with Coach Nemzek, mom and dad.  So excited for Nick!

That's our boy, #2!  But number 1 in my mind!

Darrin said Nick has really increased his speed running the field and he's playing better since he's been accepted to LTU!

Darrin sent out this picture....he said "this now means our house will have a SAINT and a BLUE DEVIL"...Amber goes to Siena Heights and plays Lacrosse (yep, she's the Saint).   Funny!

Bob and I raked 8 bags of leaves after Ron left!  We're way behind on raking this fall but the leaves haven't fallen that bad....yet...we had over 23+ bags (Bob's count) last fall.  Appears we have quite a few yet to go!

Proud Grandma

I have always been proud of my kids...what they have achieved in life, the adult(s) they've become....and now as a grandparents, we can be proud of our grand kids.  I've blogged about all four of them in the past few years.

But now that Amber is in college, we get to brag on her!  Amber signed her letter of intent to Siena Heights University her senior year to play Lacrosse.  That was another exciting and proud day for us all.

This past week or 10 days, Amber and the Siena Heights  Lacrosse team traveled to Georgia and to Florida for some games.  Unfortunately, where they played in Florida was almost 4 hours away and with over 2 hour! games, it just wasn't feasible for us to attend.

But with modern technology we were able to watch some of the game(s) on our laptops and phones!  Only problem, both games were on while I was 1) at dinner on Thursday and 2) at lunch with my friend, Marcia on Saturday!  HA  But I did sneak a peek both days!

They played two games in Florida.  One with Ave Maria University and another one with Keiser University.

But the most exciting part of playing Keiser U was Amber scored her first goal as a collegiate Lacrosse player!!  Woohoo!!!!   I didn't get to see the goal on the app, nor did her dad but we were hoping we could see a recording of it.  I'm still searching for video's of the games!

How exciting is that!!!  Amber said she was shaking after she scored!  I can only imagine how she felt and I actually felt that same excitement for her!!!  I wish everyone could know this young lady.  She cares about everyone else and is always thinking of others!  She even sent the sweetest text to Bob, which brought tears to his eyes.  I know I still have the first text from her where she said "I love you too"!

I told Amber I would do a blog post so she would have a record of her goal.  She knows I print out my blog each year so she'll always have these pics and memories!  And so will I!!!

Lacrosse

Yesterday, I headed down to see Amber play Lacrosse!  Nick was also in a Lacrosse clinic, as he is also learning to play.  This is Amber's 2nd year playing and she does love it.

It's hard to see Amber, but I know where she is in these pictures...and let's face it...this blog is for me!  She's in the middle 'row' in the black shirt.

In this picture, she was doing the face off or whatever they call it to start the game again.  No I didn't learn any of the calls or rules (yet!).

It was my first at watching a Lacrosse game and the 1st time I got to see Amber play.  And play they do!  Wow...30 min. of running...then a 5 min. break and back to another 30 minutes of play!  Talk about exhausting!  This  league is not part of the high school Lacrosse team.  They don't start until March but Amber has been attending clinics in the summer and now in the fall and winter she'll continue to play with this group.  It's great experience for the kids and I'm glad to see her enjoy a sport.
Let's be honest...her grandma wasn't good at any sport.  Well, raising and showing horses was something I grew up with so that's not a real sport.  I was lucky I could play badminton and not very good at that even!  But I can chew gum and walk...does that count for anything!
