Back to your regularly scheduled blog!

Yep...we are home...made it a week ago today in the early afternoon and hit the ground running...as usual!  The girls are happy to be home!

Neither Bob or I like to have 'stuff' sitting around so everything (with exception of his golf and my art supplies) are put in their place.  After the car was unloaded, Bob actually went with me to the grocery store!  That was a first in 14 years....it was really nice to have the help!  Anyway, we were back to our Michigan lives on Tuesday!  Dr. appts, vet appts and we even had a chance to go see Amber play LaCrosse! I love that girl and we surprised her...of course, she and I cried and hugged!  She is captain of the Oxford High School Lacrosse team and only has another week left until she graduates!

I did get in to see the Dr. and started some therapy on my back.  The sciatica pain was so bad the 2nd day of our drive...I've had this off and on since last fall and at times I can't even walk!  But I'm now doing some exercises and going in for physical therapy as well as starting on some new med for my arthritis.  Starting to feel better at least when sleeping at night!  Whew!
And for my instant pot followers...I made lasagna in the instant pot over the weekend.  It was delicious!  BUT...

I am really good at drying the dishes and putting them away after dinner but the other night I scrubbed the pot and turned upside down to dry, and for some reason, I put the instant pot in the pantry (minus the pot!).  I wanted to get the dogs walked before dark so I was in a hurry! I put the pot on the shelf in the pantry!  Again, not inside the instant pot!!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO  the next day I wanted to cook spaghetti squash.  Bob picked up one at the store and I wanted to make sure it fit so I grabbed the pot and tested to see if the squash fit.  Yep..it did...so I got a cup of water and poured it into my instant pot!  MINUS THE POT!  I was wondering where all the water came from!  DUH!

Anyway, I did a google and IP manufacturer said to turn the machine upside down and remove the bottom lid and let air out for 24-72 hours.   I've read stories where folks have done this...poured water in the machine and not the inside pot!  In fact, one sweet husband (not mine!) decided he wanted to use the IP and poured all the ingredients in...except he forgot the pot!  Yikes!  That machine was dead!  So lesson learned....I will continue to put the pot back inside the machine as I've done before!  At least I hope I've learned my lesson!

  1. Glad your pot recovered! I'm still trying to make up my mind about whether to get one. I really love to cook, so a lot of the marketing they do doesn't really appeal to me. But of course there are days when it would be great to throw some stuff in and just walk away!

  3. Oh that sciatica! Ouch. I have just a hint of it from time to time, and it just does not suit our style of zipping around. Puts the brakes on that. If that bed was bright green, those two would look like proverbial peas in a pod. Something about that lasagna makes me laugh- it looks delish, but kind of like a birthday cake! And the pot story- oh my gosh, a cautionary tale. MUST remember to keep the pot in place- I will take note.

  6. So sorry to hear about the sciatica, but hopefully the therapy will help. My husband uses the InstaPot, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm slow to embrace new gadgets.
