Party Time and quilting

Well, our New Year of 2010 started off just great. OK, partly...Bob didn't golf due to rain! There's always a New Year's tournament on Jan. 1st but due to rain they canceled. That was ok and because we are so comfortable here in 'Larry's house' Bob was fine with it. Also, the annual New Year's Day party hosted by Marilyn and John's was moved to noon instead of 1! Works for us.
I was so busy talking and eating I forgot to take a picture of the food! Talk about food!! Yum!!! There were 21 of us at this party so you know we had lots to eat. Of course Marilyn out did herself as usual putting on a wonderful spread...John is also a wonderful host and had Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's to drink.

This is the food table after we finished!

Again, I was so busy I only took 3 pictures!!! I have to get back in the groove again and stop talking so much! That's my friend, Susan, background left drinking again! Ha We will be going to our Weaver's meeting next Sat. and hopefully plan some more great outings to some quilt shops! John, our host, is on the left, front.

Some of the guys doing their male bonding!
OK, so now we're back at the ranch and my new sewing studio. I have my machine and cutting board set up on an 8 ft table Larry provided for me. He and Jan have been so great in welcoming us to the house!

Here's my trusty 1090 Bernina set up and working! I have to get used to the motor as my Bernina back home has an adjustable from almost not moving to highest speed. The 1090 only has a 1/2 motor setting which for FMQ's is still a little too fast for me...but I'm getting used to it again.
I'm quilting a panel for the Alzheimer's Quilt Initiative founded by Ami Simms. This new initiative is creating 6" x 7 foot panels with patches of the names of those who have or have lost the battle with Alzheimer's.

This is the panel all quilted...7 foot is long!

This is a closeup of the patches that make up the panel.

I signed a patch for Bob's mom, Myrtle Payne and I'm going to have my friend Carol P. sign one for her dad who passed away two years ago from Alzheimer's.
Ami has done so much to raise awareness and money for research. Check out the home page here to learn more or to make a donation or even purchase a small quilt! It's all for a great cause.
Tomorrow I'll start posting again on my BJP 2010 challenge! Didn't bead last night as I thought I would! Oh well...
