My talented friend, Mary, who I've talked about often on this blog, had an exhibit opening reception tonight at The Gallery 194 in Lapeer. Mary's created a beautiful exhibit based on the inspiration of glass works from Dale Chihuly. Mary went on vacation last year to Arizona and saw some of Chihuly's work at the desert museum. She's been creating art quilts based on pictures she took on that trip. Her work is spectacular and being on display along with the glass work of David Hity it looked as if the two of them co-ordinated this exhibit! They didn't even know each other before tonight! But check out how David's glass work and Mary's quilts compliment each other!

Amazing exhibit! I saw the Dale Chihuly exhibit in Phoenix as well. It was spectacular and I'm sure Mary had endless inspiration for her quilts.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! Thanks for sharing it. We have a large installation of Chihuly glass in the Kohl Center in Madison -- it's a nice contrast to the hockey games I go to see there.
ReplyDeleteThey really do go together nicely, don't they??? Hard to believe there was no coordination there! They are obviously both talented!
ReplyDeleteWow, lovely pieces all. You have a very talented friend.
