I will be back!

Well, I hope I'll be back!  HA....My wrist/hand have been in a splint wrap for over a week. (And, no, that isn't my hairy arm in this pic!).
I had Bob go with me to Urgent Care 10 days ago..I honestly thought I had cracked a bone.   Anyway, after x-rays and $$'s spent, the diagnosis is just degenerative arthritis/RA!

The constant pain is now only about 50% of the time or if my hand/wrist turn a certain way (like I did last night in bed!!!) or if I try to lift or even wash my right side with my left hand, the pain is intense!  By the time I get out of the tub at night my wrist is killing me again.  So frustrating....I did try to do some hand stitching the other day and if I hold my hand just the right way on the hoop I can do it!

Today, I actually groomed both dogs!  I put a rubber glove over my splint and the pressure didn't feel so great but the dogs got a well needed bath!  It's amazing what all you can do with one hand!

Jan M. gave me some coconut oil pills and Turmeric tabs which I have been faithfully taking!  Then my sister sent me some essential oils, which I have been rubbing on all my joints!  Next up, Jan also recommended Blue-Emu cream, which I bought yesterday and put on a few times a day (like before bathing dogs! and at bedtime for sure).  I can't say what is or isn't working as the pain is still in the wrist and thumb but I am able to move my thumb a heck of a lot more than I could a week ago!  So that's progress!  Right! I think so!  I'll take any little sign of relief!

  1. Well….we’d sure be a pair……I’m still wearing a brace on my knee when I walk (if this long lingering virus ever leaves me that is.) I’ve know many people who suffer from arthritis but it wasn’t till I experienced it that I realized just how painful and dibilatating it can be. My Osterporsis doc. suggests Tylenol to get the swelling down….as that generally is what causes the pain. I feel for you…..at least my bum knee doesn’t affect my sewing!

  2. Oh Robbie...so sorry to hear what you're going through...mighty painful and I hope you can find something to help with the pain...even more of a bummer when it stops us from doing something we love.

  4. Oh no, that makes stitching very difficult. Hope it heals soon and you get back to normal.

  5. I have a brace that stablizes my thumb too. Mine is a tendon issue. After wearing it awhile I find I can do some things. It's my right one though. It flaired up last spring and my brace had worn so much that the metal parts were poking through. No one around here sells them any more. I was able to find the brace on line so I ordered two. I wear it to sleep for sure because that is when I seem to be able to contort it into some strange pretzels! I also find that during a flair up, stitching at the table is easier to do pain free than in my lap. Hope you feel better soon!

  7. Oh yes, I can relate to this. Mine is in my left elbow. Not tennis elbow, but the doc says a fatty tumor. But from what I have read, fatty tumors are not supposed to cause pain. I also have pain in my left wrist. For insurance purposes, I'll be having some testing done in the fall because it may be causing nerve damage. My fingers have nodules and are starting to twist. It is not fair that we work so hard all our life and now when we should be able to enjoy out "hobbies" our bodies are limiting our mobility. All you can do is make the best of it!
    xx, Carol

  8. Bathing the dogs with one hand? You do power through! I sure hope the various remedies provide you with some relief. It's so limiting. Hang in there!

  9. This is so not good for you and your beautiful hand sewing. The joys of Arthritus is nothing for the weak to endure. Thankfully you are strong and taking good care of yourself. The dogs probably wondered what kind of new massage they were getting. Healing Energy for you dear...

  10. Same here - mine's not RA, but arthritis just the same. So very little hand work. Even the computer after a while makes them hurt. Read an interesting thing about gluten and arthritis - gluten may inflame the joints. So I'm going to try to eat less flour things and see if it helps.

  11. 3 Studies PROVE How Coconut Oil Kills Fat.

The meaning of this is that you literally burn fat by eating Coconut Fat (also coconut milk, coconut cream and coconut oil).

These 3 researches from large medicinal journals are sure to turn the traditional nutrition world upside down!
