Grand daughter's baby shower!

This past weekend was another 'girl's weekend'!  Bob's ex, Mary, and I took off early on Friday to head to Ohio for Kayla's baby shower.  The six hour trip honestly went by so fast!  Partly due to our laughing...at times a little too much!  It's hard to drive with tears in your eyes!  But we made it safe and sound around 3:30.  The hotel was wonderful and since we had some time before dinner, Mary and I got started making the Diaper Cake for Kayla!
We even had a few laughs while putting the "cake" together and I think it turned out quite nice.  We had to find a Dollar Store to pick up a different topper for the cake...this made us a little late getting to Kayla's for dinner on Friday but they expected the two great grandma's to be slow!  HA
TaDa!  All done!

Kayla received so many nice gifts.

I think she liked the baby quilt I made for her and Baby Girl H!  She won't tell us the baby's name yet so that will be a surprise to us all!

This is a blanket Bob's daughter, Diane (who couldn't make the trip) made!  Click on the picture to enlarge so you can see the pattern!  It was awesome!

And Diane made this little bear WITHOUT a pattern!  She said she knew what she wanted it to look like and just "did it".  I think it was adorable as did all the ladies!  How cute is she!!!

Kayla along with the great grandma's to be!

This is MaryJo (Kayla's mom and our DIL).  She is very excited to be a grandma!!!

This is Dinah, Nate's mom, Kayla's hubby/dad to be!  I didn't get a picture of him this weekend.  We actually didn't see him until late Saturday afternoon.  He was smart to let the women have the house!  HA

Such an exciting time for both these grandma's to be!

Kayla and I with the quilt I made. I told her she needs to use it!  Lay it on the grass...on the floor...make a tent with it...just use it!!!  Hope she does!

And this is such a wonderful gift, Mary gave to Kayla.  These belonged to Ron, Kayla's dad, when he was a baby.   What a keepsake to have.  That was so sweet Mary passed these on to Kayla!

Kayla's aunts and her two cousins, along with her cousin's 8 month old baby, put on the shower, which was so very nice of them.   They did a really nice job!!

And this is Bosco, Kayla and Nate's dog who is a hoot!  Such a gentle guy and one who loves to play.  He'll be wonderful with the baby as he is so sweet!

So we made it back home mid afternoon on Sunday, safe and sound!  Next trip to Ohio will be to see our new great grand daughter!!  Bob will make that trip!!

Baby Quilt

Well, today, Sunday, I should be headed back to Michigan from a weekend trip to Ohio for our grand daughter, Kayla's, baby shower.  Bob's ex, Mary, and I took off on Friday for the weekend.  Bob is home with the girls!  Mary and I had another 'girls' weekend 3 years ago when we drove to Indiana for Kayla's wedding shower.  I'm sure we'll have a good time and I'll post pictures later this week.  As you can tell I've created this post before I left!

This is the baby quilt I made for our soon to be great, grand daughter, who is due in June!  It's called Hankie Blankie Pets.  Cute isn't it!

Someone else had made this quilt, which I thought was adorable...so I had to make it!  This was my winter project this year while in Florida.  I finished the top but didn't quilt it until two weeks ago.

All the animal faces are made from Minke fabric, so it's nice and soft and their feet move!  So soft, I decided to use it on the back as well.

Only hard part was getting the binding fabric to come out so I didn't have seams in the corners.  Worked out great and I'm happy with it.

Hope Kalya likes it and uses it!  On the ground outside, inside, wherever!  Just so she uses it.

Pet Peeve

OK, so we all have pet peeves, right?  Trust me, before I go any further, I know that I am not that perfect at grammar, punctuation and spelling (heaven only knows those who read my FB posts will second that!) BUT....when folks use some of these words incorrectly, it drives me nuts....for example.....

Using THERE instead of THEIR or THEY'RE; TO instead of TOO, YOUR instead of YOU'RE...Whew...I feel better now that I got that off my back!!  Don't ask what brought this on...just bugs me.
Now back to more important items.....I finished up my 12" square blocks for a challenge that's due in October. One of the lady's in our group has already sent her block to us (thanks, Gayle!!)..it's a really, really nice block!  I love it!!  BUT I can't show it until we receive all of the blocks.  Nor can I  post mine until I send them out!  Which will be later this week. I have to print out the labels today and attach to each block.
In between time, I have been busy...we had a power outage a week ago for almost 27 hours.  UGH...I don't even want to think about it.  Guess we were lucky compared to some who were out for several days.  I did get lots of hand work finished as well as reading a book!

This past weekend Alice and I attended a baby shower for our bud Patty's grand daughter, Lauren.  Patty passed away a few years ago so Alice and I were there in her place.

Alice ad I having fun, as always!

The shower was wonderful and Lisa out did herself in all the preparations.  Check out the napkins.

It was a perfect day and I'm glad Alice and I were there.  I know Patty would have been proud of Lisa and her grand daughters...and if she would have been there, the three of us would have been laughing  most of the day, in addition to running to the ladies room to have a swig of vodka!  You would  had to have known Patty.  When I had my back surgery, she brought a bottle of vodka into my hospital room and we had a drink!  Yep!!  But I slept well that night!

I did miss another of Nick's football games on Saturday but hopefully I'll make it up to him the next two weeks!   So off to make my labels for the blocks.  Bob's golfing but the day isn't that great.  A tad on the cool side and windy.  But we're due for some 60 and sunny weather coming later this week!  My kind of weather!!
