Ring! Riing!

Not, "ring, ring...hello"....but real rings...I've had to make some new beaded rings as the ones I made several years ago are starting to look a little faded.   The metallic bead coating does wear off after awhile.  And I do wear my beaded rings every time I go out.  Just a me thing!  So I made a few more this past week.

The one of the left (grey/white trim) is in the works.  I just started it last night.  The other two are finished.  These should hold me for awhile!

And I'm working on quilting the hex blocks on my 'modern quilt'.  I'm satisfied with how it's turning out.  So far...so good!!

Just an update on my 'wrists/hands'....went to my PCP on Friday....she's made an appointment with an orthopedic specialist for possible injections in the wrists.  I've started back on a stronger dose of Prednisone as well.  So let's see how this all works out!
Today is a painful day (again!) but I have noticed that if I take 2 Excedrin for Migraine that  the pain does  taper off !!  I read about the dosage and you can only take 2 pills in a 24 hour period.  HMMMMMMM  I took  just 1 this a.m. since I took 2 yesterday afternoon for the start of a migraine.....Just have to find the right combo for dealing with these issues as we get older, right!

Too many ideas!!

I pulled out some of my old hexes I had leftover from my Horse Hex piece...I'm thinking of making a background of different size hexes then fusing the horse I cut out from my original Horse Hex ontop of the hex background...just the reverse from my first 'horse'.

Only problem, I need to get the right colors of yellow/browns since I used all the fabric when I originally made the hex horse.  Hmmmmmm  Some of the original fabric I used was from a screen printed piece I did several years ago.  I might have to resort back to trying to match the colors by dyeing and screen printing.  Or maybe I'll just see when my Q Buddy is free and we can go on a fabric run!!!

I just can't sit and watch TV without 'doing something'...yes, I can read blogs in my blog list or research on the net  but I feel that's wasting time vs accomplishing something.  So I started to make some more rings for myself!

I finished the brown one yesterday and started the black one today.  I have some metallic rings I've made that are wearing out, which I knew the metallic shine would wear out over time.  I do need a black ring but I wanted some silver or color in it.  I think  just  two rows of silver will be enough.

Back to sorting though more future projects in my mind!!!!!  I did draw out an idea for another reverse applique piece.  This was from a Dover book Susan had lent me that I enlarged.   But I am going to have to wait until we get back home.  I want to do all the colors from the color wheel (well, that's my idea right now!) and since I don't have all the fabrics here I'm not going to buy them.  This project will wait...but I think it will work out good for Susan's reverse applique technique.
Maybe I need a dog walk to clear my head!!

Weekend starting

No I didn't make these yesterday (I made lots of these about a year or so ago..just search for 'ring' on my blog and you'll see most of them). I made a matt black one for myself while watching the final show of 'Into the West last night'!  We loved that series as well as 'Hell on Wheels'.  Really good shows.  Now we're going to be watching all the other TV series that we Tivo'd while watching baseball!

And, tada!  My hex strip is finished!  Yippee!
Just because it's fun to count (with a calculator that is! Well, I run out of fingers!)...there are 8 one inch hex's in each row and 28 rows!  That's a total of 224 hex's!  I'm going to put the strip along with some fabrics I want to use in my project bag to take to Florida.  I still have hand work to do on my patchwork piece so I'll have something to work on at night.
With the holiday's approaching and Christmas shopping, packing, planning, I don't see me completing this piece or my Peter Max/Dr. Seuss (for our fiber group) until Florida.  I do have to finish the snap bags I'm quilting but I need to buy some more metal tape measures!  I used up my last one!
Today I'm going to get busy making some Thanksgiving dishes as the kids are coming up for an early Thanksgiving dinner.  Darrin and family are going to Mexico with the kids and Dawn and Jeff go to his family for Thanksgiving.  Kris usually does the Thanksgiving dinner for the families but this year she'll get a break.
I'm looking forward to making dinner for the kids...haven't made a Thanksgiving dinner in years and years for them!!!
So off I go...don't forget the Small Paws Rescue online auction!!!  I'm bidding on 3 items right now...hope I get them!!
